Opening of Southampton show bonanza

Britain's Olympic medal winners will open the PSP Southampton Boat Show.

And MBY is pleased to hear powerboating legend Steve Curtis will be among them, as one of a series of nautical figures who will help start the celebrations marking the event's 40th anniversary.

Gold medal winners Ben Ainslie, Paul Goodison, Iain Percy, Andrew Simpson, Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson, with their fellow Olympic team members, will arrive at the show with Mike Golding on his yacht ECOVER 3 at 10am.

They will then make their way to the main stage at 11am to officially open the show.

Standing alongside them at the opening will be "boating legends and television personalities from the past 40 years".

The line-up includes Dame Ellen MacArthur, eight-time world Class 1 powerboat champion Steve Curtis MBE, Lady Pippa Blake, representing her husband Sir Peter Blake who died in 2001, Kate O'Mara, who played Laura Wilde in Howard's Way, and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.

There will also be a retro-style fashion show with live music from 1980s tribute group Infantasia.
