Perham sets off

British teenager Mike Perham has passed his start line off the Lizard Point to begin his solo, non-stop round the world record. The 16-year old left Falmouth earlier today in his Open 50, Totallymoney.com.

He can expect a favourable weather window as a band of high pressure approaches the UK, and is currently making 10 knots, heading South West.

This will be the first time that Mike has sailed the boat alone. Totallymoney.com is a Finot-designed Open 50, formerly Cray Valley, and has previously competed in the Around Alone race and Transat Jacques Vabre.

Keep up with his attempt on the SailMike website

Mike's attempt is sponsored by some of some of the biggest names in sailing in the UK: Blakes Paints, Kemp Sails, Furuno, McMurdo, Viking, Tektanks, Marlow, Harken and B&G.
