Oasis of the Seas is expected to enter service from Port Everglades, Florida in early December. As the largest passenger vessel ever built, the new Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL) ship measures 1,181ft (380m) by 154ft (47m).
The ship can accommodate 5,400 passengers at double occupancy, but up to 7,300 at full occupancy. A speed of over 20 knots is provided by eight Wärtsilä V12 engines rated at 17,500hp each, providing power to three 20MW Asea Brown Boveri Azipods.
A unique feature of the 16-deck vessel will be her ‘neighbourhood’ concept, which will include seven distinct themed areas, including Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center.
